Who I am
The Two Clocks is a trading name of Aleaf Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company no. 16644382, registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU. Aleaf Ltd is the data controller for this site. You can reach me at elif@thetwoclocks.com.
What I collect
If you use the contact form, I collect your name, your role, your organisation, your email address and whatever you write in the message.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address and the date you subscribed.
I do not use cookies. Site analytics are provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not collect personal data or track you across sites. It tells me which pages are read and where visitors came from. It does not tell me who you are.
Why I collect it, and on what basis
Contact form submissions: to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to keep a record of how the conversation started. The lawful basis is legitimate interest: you contacted me, and a reply is what you were expecting.
Newsletter: to send you the newsletter. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you tick the box. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any issue, or by emailing me.
I will not add you to the newsletter because you used the contact form, and I will not use your details for anything you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
The site is hosted by Netlify, which also processes contact form submissions before they reach my inbox. The newsletter is sent through Substack, which stores subscriber email addresses. Analytics are handled by Cloudflare. Each of these is a processor acting on my instructions, and each publishes its own privacy terms. Nobody else sees your data, and I do not sell it, share it or pass it to anyone for marketing.
Netlify and Substack are based in the United States, so your email address is stored there. Both operate under the safeguards UK law requires for transfers outside the UK.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work: two years, then deleted. Records relating to actual engagements: six years, which is what UK company and tax law requires. Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email elif@thetwoclocks.com and I will come back to you within a month, usually much faster. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter yourself at any time.
If you are not happy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
